Aquatic hues to match the season’s showers

As nature changes its course from the scorching summer to the playfully cool monsoon, M.A.C introduces a range that’s as beautiful on the inside as on the outside. With a beautiful aqua blue packaging resembling water droplets, the range brings to you lip colours, powder foundation, blushes, lip glosses, eye shadows and nail colours inspired by the colours on the seabed. The collection also includes kohl pencils and makeup brushes. A major inspiration for the collection is swimmer and actress Esther Williams, who glamourised bright make-up during the 40s and 50s. Perhaps the best thing about the products is that the powder products have a very creamy texture, thus giving you the glow of creme with the comfort of using powder. M.A.C design artist, Sonic Sarvate, answers a few of our queries:

How useful will these products be for the monsoon; how long will they survive?

All these products, despite their creamy texture, are gel-based and even if water falls on them, they won’t budge.

So, are they waterproof?

Not really, but even if they come in contact with water, they won’t smudge. That doesn’t mean you can get drenched wearing them, but the humidity certainly won’t spoil your face.

If we compare summer and monsoon trends, what would be the difference?

This time, spring, summer and monsoon have been exactly the same for me. Bright lip colours have constantly been trending. Even if you are in the mood for makeup, you can skip everything else and just dab on a bright lip colour—it instantly lights up your face. Minimalism has been bang-on trend—and it’s great because the less makeup you have on, the less touch-ups you need.
