Turmeric was one of the most important herbs prescribed by the ancients. It is said to strengthen the stomach, purify the blood and be an excellent tonic for good health, which reflects in healthy skin! A glass of milk boiled with a half a teaspoon of turmeric powder, obtained from the rhizomes of the plant, is often recommended for good health. Turmeric’s antiseptic and healing attributes prevent and cure pimples and also clear the skin. Kasturi haldi, a variety of turmeric, is popularly used by women in South India for a clear complexion. Just a pinch of turmeric in a paste goes a long way. Mix a paste of chickpea flour, turmeric and milk (or cream of milk for dry skin) and apply this on the skin to make it soft and clear.
