Chinese women have a variety of traditional hair ornaments to choose from such as the Ji, Zan, Chai, Huan, Buyao, Fengguan, Huasheng, Fadian, Bianfang and Shubi. Worn mainly by noblewomen in the ancient Ming Dynasty on important ceremonies or official occurences, it is now a headgear of choice for brides. Fengguan stands for ‘phoenix crown’ and is adorned with gold dragons, phoenixes, feathers, beaded pheasants, pearls and gemstones.
