was recently invited to the Lakmé Absolute Salon to experience their new organic ingredient-based hair spa services. SURINA SAYAL signed up for one of the services and here’s what she had to say…
I was met by Karen Tauro, my stylist in attendance (or as Lakmé calls their stylists, ‘backstage heroes’), at the Lakmé Absolute Salon in Bandra, Mumbai. Karen was to take me through my hair spa session and patiently listed the new hair spa services (that start from R2,600) on offer. Considering the fact that my hair is slightly dry from chemical treatments and frequent colouring, I was keen to try out the Lush Organic – Nourish spa which, she explained, is an intensive treatment that helps restructure over-processed hair using argan oil, and vitamins A and E to nourish the hair and soothe the scalp.
The different varieties of hair spas here use different brands and products, and the range for my specific hair spa was the Keune So Pure Natural Balance one, which is sulfate- and paraben-free.
The process started with the application of a nourishing oil that is enriched with ylang-ylang, palmarosa and argan oil. Karen applied this onto my scalp and hair, and followed it up with a short, soothing massage. Before the next step of applying the mask, she thoroughly shampooed my hair to wash off all the oil.
Before the application of the hair mask, she also added a few drops of Moroccan argan oil into it. Once applied, she continued to massage the mask into my scalp in gentle strokes for a good 15 minutes or so, leaving me completely relaxed (and almost nodding off!)
Post the massage, she allowed the mask to sit for a few minutes allowing the goodness to seep in. She then washed my hair once more, before rounding off the treatment with a blow dry. The verdict? My hair was smooth and felt considerably shinier, and my scalp felt refreshed and clean.
