French-inspired therapies are just as effective in Kashmir, as KHURSHEED DINSHAW found out...
I t was a sensorial journey that I embarked on at The Khyber Spa by L’Occitane, housed in the multiple award-winning The Khyber Himalayan Resort & Spa at Gulmarg. My therapist Emei escorted me to my stunning treatment room for the Almond Detoxifying Balance Technical Body Treatment. An anti water-retention therapy, the oil used is 100% natural almond body oil enriched with red algae extracts and essential oils of cypress, grapefruit and geranium.
The therapy is a blissful way of flushing out lymphatic toxins—as the focus is the lymph terminus—and reactivating circulation. After taking steam for 10 minutes, the foot ritual was done using warm water and Lavender Foaming Bath was used to cleanse my feet.
The Relaxing Pillow Mist started to work its calming magic on me when the sweet aromatic almond oil instantly relaxed and put me in a good mood. Using her palm and thumb, with the perfect amount of pressure, Emei ensured that for an hour
I was in spa paradise. My skin felt fresh and my muscles were relaxed, especially after the gondola ride and snow activities that I had indulged in the morning.
The head massage, which activated the pressure points on my scalp, relieved all my pent-up stress, while the revitalizing blend of rosemary and mint proved to be a treat for my olfactory senses—Emei put this blend on her palm and I took a delightful whiff of it. The hot towel compress to remove any excess oil ended the therapy. I left The Khyber Spa by L’Occitane feeling lighter, reinvigorated and ready to further explore the sights and sounds of the picturesque Gulmarg.
