WISHES FOR THE RESURRECTION OF THE HOUSE OF JEAN PATOU,THE LEGENDARY 1920S FRENCH DESIGNER

“Not many people sing praises for the inventor of the modern women’s tennis attire, but I’ve always admired the work of Jean Patou. His designs embodied the nonchalant slackness that was the trademark of the ’20s. This season, you can see his references in collections ranging from Gucci to Etro to YSL to Alberta Ferretti. With his contemporary Coco Chanel, he took women out of uncomfortable clothing, and his perfume Joy is second only to Chanel No. 5. The coming year will hopefully see a revival of his name on the Paris ramps.”
