Emerging designer-sisters Tina and Nikita Sutradhar from Mumbai are quickly rising on the global fashion circuit. One of the finalists for the LVMH Prize in their very first year in the business (their fellow competitors were Simone Rocha, Creatures of the Wind, Meadham Kirchoff, Stella Jean, and Suno, a mong o t h e r s ) , t heir designs are futuristic, and feature clean lines that burst into maximal looks with colourblocking, stripes, and interesting construction. Their sense of style is an amalgamation of the duo’s aesthetics. And even though they are only two collections old, accolades have been c o ming in fast and thick. The sisters have received the Fashion Innovation Award at London College of Fashion (July 2013) and the ISKO Denim Diffusion Award (July 2013); they were also semi-finalists of the H&M Design Awards 2014. And if that’s not impressive enough, both have degrees and diplomas in business, fashion marketing, fashion design, pattern cutting, and, more recently, a BA (Hons) in Womenswear from the London College of Fashion under their belts. And what does Miuniku mean? It’s a combination of the sisters’ nicknames—Tina ‘Miu’ and Nikita ‘Niku’.
