Though weaving metal into silk has been an Indian thing for centuries (Benarasi and Kanjeevaram weaves used gold and silver), Gaurav Jai Gupta has taken it a step further. He has woven metal yarn with mono-filament silk to create fabrics that look delicate and translucent. This provides the structure and strength that allows for jackets and dresses to be cut without the fraying or ripping of traditional silk if it were made into these styles.
