Cancer Alert

Health & Nutrition - - JUST LAUNCHED - Dr Avan Dadina, Obstetrics & Gynaecologist

My doctor tells me I should be screened for cervical cancer, but at 63, am I not well past the age when this cancer is a health risk? Rekha Chandrasekaran, Jabalpur

You have not specified whether you have had paps smears in the past. If you have not done it, then do it now. Paps smear is a simple, painless and quick test and is a good screening method for cervical cancer. If you have excessive white discharge, it is recommended. Your doctor is a better judge as to whether you need it or not as he or she has known you. Best wishes! PRABHAKAR A PUTHRAN
