Stand More, Sit Less

Spend­ing more time each day stand­ing in­stead of sit­ting could im­prove your heart health. Re­searchers stud­ied 782 men and women aged be­tween 36 and 80 and mea­sured their move­ment with an ac­tiv­ity mon­i­tor for 24 hours a day over a seven-day pe­riod. They found that the time spent just stand­ing rather than sit­ting was linked to lower lev­els of blood sugar and blood fats.
