Growing up, I was a skinny kid. I was not a weak kid but somehow kids my age looked a lot bigger than me or I looked a lot smaller compared to them. Throughout my school, college, post-graduation and work life, I was a thin guy. So being big and strong was a dream, till that day when I lifted my first dumbbell! And I got HOOKED! Slowly, I started learning about weight training techniques, cardio, proper diet and witnessed awesome changes in my body. Carbs, proteins and fats became my ammo, gym became my firing range and my body became MY WEAPON! I started to feel stronger, more energetic and positive. My clothes fitted better but most importantly, I felt happier. Technically, when we end a workout, our body releases a hormone called ‘dopamine’ which in layman’s term is the ‘happy hormone’. I work out in the morning so my day starts off on a positive note and hence I carry that to my work, to my family and friends, basically everywhere. (Not that I had a sad life earlier; I was happy, but fitness made me a better version of myself. The best part about my fitness journey is it is completely NATURAL. It’s a bit tough to achieve fitness goals naturally, without unhealthy drugs or expensive supplements. But all it takes is discipline in terms of hitting the workouts, healthy food habits, proper rest and persistence. I have a regular life, working in the corporate world, getting stuck in traffic jams routinely, dealing with relationships, but fitness has helped me deal with everything in a very calm and effective manner. I can say with utmost confidence that one of the best things to happen to me in all of my 30 odd years is ‘FITNESS’. Stay fit, stay happy!
