Start Your Low-Choles­terol Diet With These Tips

Buy only low-fat dairy prod­ucts. Eat egg yolks in mod­er­a­tion. Cut serv­ings of poul­try and red meat to a por­tion no larger than a deck of cards. Trim fat from meat be­fore cooking. Do not eat poul­try skin. Re­place meat with a cold-wa­ter fish, such as salmon or tuna, three days a week. Re­place meat with a vege­tar­ian op­tion, prefer­ably one with beans or legumes, one or two days a week. Elim­i­nate pro­cessed lunch­meats and eat sal­ads with fresh chicken or shrimp in­stead. Avoid cream-based soups, but en­joy broth-based soups.

Re­place mar­garine and but­ter with olive and other veg­etable oils. Re­place may­on­naise with mashed av­o­cado. Snack on a hand­ful of wal­nuts. Eat an ap­ple a day.
