R11-lakh jewellery stolen from hotel during wedding

LUDHIANA: Jewellery worth nearly `11 lakh kept in a bag was stolen from a wedding function at Hotel Maharaj Palace on Ferozepur Road here on Sunday night. The Division 5 police have registered a case and investigat­ions are on.

The guests nabbed a waiter of the hotel, suspecting him to be a thief and handed him over to the police. His questionin­g is on.

The police are scanning the video recording of the function to identify the accused.

Hemant Kumar of Dugri tied the nuptial knot with Poonam of Moga at the hotel. During the ‘milni’ (introducti­on) ceremony, the groom’s aunt kept the jewellery bag on a chair from where it went missing.
