MUMBAI: Peter Mukerjea was against his son Rahul’s relationship with Indrani’s daughter Sheena Bora, the CBI said, terming the former television executive a “key conspirator” in the murder of the 25-year-old woman four-and-a-half years ago.

The probe agency, which filed a third supplementary charge sheet into the case, cited that an email Peter by Peter to Rahul a month after Sheena’s murder disclosed his displeasure.

“...initially I was ok with your relationship as I figured that due to economic pressures it would break anyway as Sheena would want more from life and would tell you that…” said Peter in a mail to Rahul on May 29, 2012. Sheena, he said, would “leave you if she don’t get it after a while and I was more interested in your safety…. Who knows what things people can get up to in their quest for saving their girl or their reputation.”

In another email three weeks later, Peter had told Rahul not be in touch with Sheena’s family in Guwahati: her brother Mikhail, friends Sanjana and Pranami, Indrani and Vidhie.

The charge sheet goes on to state that Indrani had informed Peter over phone about the selection of place for disposal of Sheena’s body when Indrani had gone to conduct reconnaissance of the place.

Peter also knew Sheena was Indrani’s daughter. Sheena had informed her brother Mikhail about it, states the charge sheet.

Indrani’s driver Shyamwar Rai, who was an accused and later turned approver, has stated that Indrani had called Peter from Raigad from where Sheena’s body parts were recovered.

In a two page statement recorded this April 1, Rai stated that when he took Indrani for reconnaissance to search for a place to dispose of Sheena’s body, Indrani had called Peter and said “it is a good place”.

Rai’s confession gave details of how Indrani along with her ex-husband Sanjeev Khanna conspired to eliminate Sheena, and how the three of them executed the plot.
