India only needed a draw in the fourth and final Test to retain the Border-Gavaskar Trophy. They almost secured the Test when they posted a mammoth 705 for seven, thanks to Sachin’s 241*, and restricted Australia to 474. Australia were set a target of 443 runs. The challenge of taking 10 wickets proved too much for India as Australia hung on for a draw, finishing with 357 for six.
