HIMACHAL MUST GET A GRIP ON LAW AND ORDER

-

The gangrape and the gruesome murder of a Class-10 student in Kotkhai in Shimla, has disrobed the state of the coveted title of a ‘Peaceful state’. There have been a string of incidents of rape and murder in the recent past. The claims and counterclaims after the incidents were even more painful and added pain for those left to deal with after-effects of the crime. The shoddy investigation led to the relatives taking to the streets to press for justice. There was definite attempt to hush-up the matter. The government needs to take stock and check the deterioration of the law and order in the state. Such incidents can cost the state dearly in terms of lost reputation and tourism could also be hit.
