ETO SUICIDE: EXVIGILANCE SP REINSTATED, POSTED IN GRP

CHANDIGARH: The Punjab government has ordered reinstatement of a woman Punjab Police Service officer Amandeep Kaur, whose name figured in suicide case of, excise and taxation officer Ranjit Singh in 2011. Amandeep has been posted as SP (operations), GRP, Ludhiana. It has been recorded that she was reinstated, pending inquiry on July 10, and joined on duty on July 12.

Senior IPS officer, now posted as ADGP, STF, Harpreet Sidhu, as I GP, along with senior I AS officer Manasvi Kumar, conducted an inquiry into the ET O’ s suicide. The deceased was arrested on bribery charges by a VB team in 2011.Soon after his release on bail, Ranjit Singh had poisoned himself to death. The probe had revealed how the SP, then posted at the Ludhiana VB office, had fraudulently trapped the ETO with help of other accused. HTC
