AKALI LEADER’S SON BOOKED FOR ‘ABDUCTING’ MINOR GIRL

MOGA: The district police have booked Sadhu Singh, son of Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) leader Mall Singh, for allegedly abducting a 17-year-old girl from Ghal Kalan village on the intervening night of July 23-24. Mall Singh is a chairman of the Moga-2 block samiti.

In her complaint to the police, the minor’s mother said her daughter was missing for over a week. The family tried to trace her in the village and at relatives’ place, but could not find her.

“Somebody told me that Sadhu has abducted my daughter and I have immediately informed the police,” she the minor’s mother.

The police said that 30-yearold Sadhu, who has divorced his wife, and with whom he has two children, allegedly wanted to marry the minor girl even though her family members were against it.

Investigation officer Surinderpal Singh said that the accused is absconding and the police are conducting raids to nab him.

A case under Sections 363 (punishment for kidnapping) and 366 (kidnapping, abducting or inducing a woman to compel her marriage) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) has been registered against Sadhu at the Sadar police station in Moga.
