J&K HC BAR ASSOCIATION REVOKES BEHAL’S MEMBERSHIP
JAMMU: The Jammu and Kashmir high court bar association on Tuesday suspended the membership of controversial lawyer Devinder Singh Behal who was detained by the National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Sunday for his alleged links in terror-funding in Kashmir.
Behal is a close aide of Hurriyat hawk Syed Ali Shah Geelani and was frequently spotted at the funerals of militants in Kashmir.
“There is no space for anti-nationals in the bar association. He is a blot on the legal fraternity and has tarnished its the image. The Association is left with no other option but to expel him from the primary membership. The bar association has no space for anyone who is even remotely associated with those involved in anti-national activities,” BS Slathia, president of the bar association, said.
