DON’T SING ANTHEM ON IDAY: CLERIC

BAREILLY: Contrary to the Yogi government, the city cleric of Bareilly has prohibited singing of national anthem and the national song in any of its madrasas. The cleric has also asked them not to record Independen­ce Day celebratio­ns.

“Cleric Asjad Miyan advised madrasas to celebrate I-Day by hoisting national flag and singing ‘Sare jahan se accha’ and asked not to sing either national anthem or the national song,” Nasir Qureshi, the cleric’s spokespers­on, told HT.
