LUCKNOW: Shocked by the death of children at the B RD Medical College, residents of Gorakhpur are now waiting for the arrival of chief minister Yogi Adi ty ana th to provide solace and crack the whip on the erring college and district administration officials.

Sore over how a tragedy of such magnitude could occur in the CM’s parliamentary constituency, Bhagwati Yadav, whose seven-year-old daughter was battling for life in the encephalitis ward, asked :“How could the hospital administration be callous when they knew Adi ty ana th represents the constituency in which the medical college is located?”

He added that none of the senior administrative officials visited the hospital when patients were collapsing due to oxygen crisis. “Adityanath was concerned about the continuing deaths of children in B RD Medical College and assured better facilities after the BJP forms the government. We cannot imagine that officers could be so callous when Mahantji (Adityanath) is at the helm of affairs,” said Gauri Nishad, whose son is admitted to the hospital.

Locals have also taken to social media to demand that Adityanath visit Gorakhpur immediately.

“Only the visit of Yogi Adityana th will improve the working in the BRD Medical College or else the death toll will mount,” said Aditya Kumar, a student at the DDU Gorakhpur University.

As pressure mounted, the state government announced that health minister Siddharth Nath Singh and medical education minister Ashutosh Tandon will visit the hospital to take stock of the situation.

However, locals want the chief minister to show up.

“Adi ty ana this our representative. So rather than sending the ministers, he should visit the hospital and meet the parents whose children are undergoing treatment.
