India U19 clinch oneday series 50 on tour of England

NEW DELHI: India’s U-19 team ended their tour of England on a high as they defeated the hosts by one wicket in the fifth and final one-dayer in Taunton.

With this win, India swept aside England 5-0 in the one-day series after winning the two Youth Tests too.

After England U-19 won the toss, Liam Banks (51) strung a 87-run stand with skipper Harry Brook (49) for the second wicket. Rahul Chahar was pick of the bowlers with 4/35 as England U-19 managed 222/9. Left-arm spinner Abhishek Sharma took 3/33. Prithvi Shaw shared a 53-run stand with Harvik Desai (44) before Kamlesh Nagarkoti (26*) held his nerve to take India U-19 past the finish line despite a mid-innings stumble. Brief scores: England U-19 222/9 (Liam Banks 51, Rahul Chahar 4/63) lost to India U-19 226/9 (Prithvi Shaw 52, Henry Brookes 3/57) by one wicket.
