NIHANG DEPUTY JATHEDAR SHOT DEAD IN BARNALA

BARNALA: A deputy jathedar of Shiromani Panth Akali Budha Dal, Bahadur Singh, 55, was reportedly shot at in Kahneke village, 22km from here, on Monday. Police said he had two bullet injuries in his abdomen. Old enmity is suspected to be the reason behind the killing. ››

BARNALA : A deputy jathedar of Shiromani Panth Akali Budha Dal, Bahadur Singh, 55, was shot at, allegedly due to an old rivalry, in Kahneke village, 22km from here, on Monday.

When shot at, he was resting at the community centre in the village, said the police, adding that it had booked more than half-a-dozen people in the case.

One of his friends, Balraj Singh said, “He was attacked earlier too. A rival faction is behind the act.” SP (investigat­ion) Swaran Singh said, “The post-mortem is being done.”

Rureke Kalan SHO Malkit Singh said, “A case has been registered against Jaspal Singh, Sukhwinder Singh, Baltej Singh, Jagraj Singh, Arjun Dev and others under Sections 302 (murder), 148 (rioting), 149 (unlawful assembly) of the IPC and Sections of the Arms Act.”
