Khaira launches ‘save indebted farmers campaign’

BATHINDA: Leader of Opposition in the Punjab assembly and A am A ad mi Party( AAP) leader SukhpalKh air a on Wednesday launched “Peedit Kisan-Majdoor Bachao Muhim” (save indebted farmers-labourer initiative) in Bathinda.

He said the Union and state government­s have failed to save poor farmers and it was the responsibi­lity of people to save them. Khaira said he had asked the common people to come forward and help the families of farmers who committed suicide.

Condemning the Captain Amarinder Singh government for making a “false” commitment to debt-ridden farmers, the AAP leader said that Amarinder promised the people of Punjab that loans will be waived but nothing was done in last five months. He said that as many as 200 farmers committed suicide since the formation of the Congress government. HTC
