Debtridden farmer jumps before train

BATHINDA : A debt-ridden farmer allegedly committed suicide by jumping before a speeding train near Dhan Singh Khana village on Monday. Body of the deceased, identified as Mahinder Singh, 55, a resident of Bhai Bakhtaur village, had been lying in the mortuary of Bathinda civil hospital. The victim’s family identified him on Wednesday. They told the police Singh was under a debt ₹4 lakh that had pushed him into depression.
