DIG who re­vealed Sasikala’s jail bribe gets Prez medal

BENGALURU: Deputy in­spec­tor gen­era lRo op aDMoudg­ilwa son Satur­day con­ferred the Pres­i­dent’ s Medal for Mer­i­to­rius Ser­vice at the Raj B ha van hereby gov­er­nor Va­jub­hai Vala.

As DIG (pris­ons), Moudgil had spo­ken about the “pref­er­en­tial treat­ment” to jailed AIADMK leader VK Sasikala at Bengaluru cen­tral prison.

In a report to her su­pe­rior of­fi­cers, Moudgil said Sasikala had bribed the then deputy gen­eral of po­lice (pris­ons) HN Sathya­narayana Rao for the pref­er­en­tial treat­ment.

Although an investigation was or­dered, the probe team is yet to sub­mit its report. Shortly af­ter her rev­e­la­tion, Moudgil was trans­ferred to the traf­fic and road safety depart­ment.

Speak­ing to HT, Moudgil said “it is a very big hon­our and I feel vin­di­cated thanks to this.”

Moudgil said she felt bit­ter­sweet be­ing the only woman of­fi­cer to be hon­oured on the day.
