A team led by deputy superintendent of police (vigilance) Kawaldeep Kaur caught sub-inspector Bakshish Singh while accepting a bribe of ₹20,000 from Dilbag Singh of Macchike village in Khemkaran constituency of Tarn Taran.

“Bakshish had arrested Dil- bag with 2kg opium in April 2016. He was an assistant sub-inspector with CIA in Tarn Taran then. It during a hearing in the Dilbag’s case on September 9 at the court of additional sessions judge KK Jain when Bakshish demanded ₹1 lakh for giving statement in Dilbag’s favour,” the sources said.

According to the sources, the deal was later settled at ₹30,000 and Bakshish had already taken ₹10,000 from Dilbag.

A case under the Sections 7 and 13 (2) of the Prevention of Corruption Act has been registered against Bakshish at the vigilance bureau police station in Amritsar.
