Repatriation of BSF man from Pak: MEA gets notice
CHANDIGARH: The Punjab and Haryana high court on Thursday put ministry for external affairs (MEA) on notice on a petition seeking repatriation of a 1971 war soldier from Pakistan. The bench of justice Rakesh Kumar Jain has sought response from MEA and BSF)authorities by November 13 on a petition of Angrez Kaur of Faridkot. She had sought direction to get her husband, Surjit Singh, a constable in BSF, who, according to her, was captured by the Pakistani army on December 4, 1971. BSF had presumed him killed in Chhamb sector. The petitioner argued that former Pakistani human rights activist Ansar Burney in a statement to Pakistan news paper ‘Jang’ on April 28, 2011, had stated that constable Surjit Singh of India was in Pakistan jail.
