Govt teacher abuses prin­ci­pal, faces in­quiry

BATALA: In an em­bar­rass­ment to the state ed­u­ca­tion de­part­ment, a govern­ment school teacher, Gurmeet Kaur, was caught on cam­era hurl­ing abuses at the prin­ci­pal in the pres­ence of dozens of stu­dents, here on Fri­day.

The in­ci­dent hap­pened at the Govern­ment Se­nior Sec­ondary School, Veela Ba­jju, fall­ing un­der the ju­ris­dic­tion of Gur­daspur dis­trict.

The in­ci­dent was recorded by a stu­dent, who later up­loaded it on so­cial net­work­ing sites fol­low­ing which dis­trict ed­u­ca­tion of­fi­cer (sec­ondary), Rakesh Bala trans­ferred the erring teacher to But­tar Kalan school. She will also face a de­part­men­tal probe.

Deny­ing the al­le­ga­tions, Kaur said, “He (prin­ci­pal) has been ha­rass­ing me men­tally. A few days back, I had asked some stu­dents play­ing kabadi to wear a patka (head wear) in­stead of tur­ban which led to a dis­pute. He in­sulted me dur­ing the assem­bly in front of staff mem­bers and stu­dents,” she said.
