BJP RIDING HIGH ON JIND WIN
Following its convincing win in the Jind bypoll, the ruling BJP in Haryana is riding high. Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar took the
newly elected MLA Krishan Midha for a courtesy call to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and later the party leaders organized a celebration for the win at Chandigarh. The newly found confidence of the state BJP, however, has given rise to speculations of the ruling party going in for early assembly polls in the state. While senior party leaders, including Khattar, have denied early assembly polls, the opposition parties are expecting the dissolution of the Vidhan Sabha soon after the budget session this month. The Election Commission is expected to announce the schedule for the Lok Sabha polls in March.
