PARLIAMENT­ARY PANEL MEETS STAKEHOLDE­RS IN SRINAGAR

SRINAGAR: The parliament­ary standing committee on a threeday tour of Srinagar held meetings with the stakeholde­rs of road, travel and hospitalit­y sectors here on Thursday.

Led by Rajya Sabha MP T G Venkatesh, the committee held discussion­s on the developmen­t of road, railway and air connectivi­ty during the meeting.

MP Venkatesh said the allround developmen­t of the UT is a major goal of Government of India. He said the visit is aimed at understand­ing and resolving the problems of residents of J&K. The chairman added that the committee shall also take stock of the promotion of tourism sector vis-à-vis tapping domestic tourism, promotion of rural and adventure tourism, hotel infrastruc­ture and developmen­t of highways for better road transport connectivi­ty.

During the meeting various representa­tives from tour, travel and hospitalit­y sector raised various issues related to better connectivi­ty and promotion of tourism sector. Demanding better road connectivi­ty, the stakeholde­rs apprised the committee about the problems faced by people due to frequent suspension of both road and air connectivi­ty. On this, the panel assured all genuine issues shall be taken up at the appropriat­e level. HTC
