Of­fi­cials to mo­bilise farm­ers against stub­ble burn­ing

Haryana gov­ern­ment has de­cided to or­gan­ise gram sabha (vil­lage meet­ing) in one vil­lage each of all the 22 dis­tricts in the state on Oc­to­ber 2 to high­light the ben­e­fits of pre­ven­tion of paddy straw or crop residue burn­ing by farm­ers and the sub­sidy avail­able for straw man­age­ment ma­chine. Stub­ble burn­ing is a ma­jor source of pol­lu­tion in Delhi, es­pe­cially dur­ing the win­ters con­tribut­ing 12-60 % pol­lu­tion load.
