Woman raped for four months in Ahmed­abad

TARNTARAN: A 35-year-old woman of Jhan­der vil­lage, 5km from the dis­trict head­quar­ters, was al­legedly kid­napped, con­fined and raped by a man in Ahmed­abad for four months.

On the vic­tim’s com­plaint, Sadar po­lice have booked Harpreet Singh, 30, of the same vil­lage, who is ab­scond­ing. The woman said, “On May 11, I went to the mar­ket for some do­mes­tic work.” “When I reached near Adda Jhan­der, Harpreet came on his bike and ab­ducted me,” she said.

She said, “He took me to some un­known vil­lage in Ahmed­abad by bus, con­fined me in a house there and raped me for four months. On Septem­ber 16, I man­aged to es­cape from there and reached home.”

As­sis­tant sub-in­spec­tor (ASI) Ran­jit Kaur said a case un­der Sec­tions 363 (pun­ish­ment for kid­nap­ping), 366 (kid­nap­ping, ab­duct­ing or in­duc­ing woman to com­pel her mar­riage), 376 (pun­ish­ment for rape), 342 (pun­ish­ment for wrong­ful con­fine­ment) of the In­dian Pe­nal Code (IPC) has been reg­is­tered.
