10 food and supplies officials booked for Sirsa wheat scam

SIRSA The Sirsa police on Tuesday booked two serving and two retired deputy food and supplies controller­s (DFSCs), two assistant food and supplies officer, four food and supplies inspectors, two sub-inspectors and 58 depot holders for alleged misappropr­iation of wheat supplied through the public distributi­on system (PDS).

Deputy food and supplies controller Ashok Bansal in his complaint said he found that DFSCs Diwan Chand and Hans Raj Bhadu (both retired), DFSCs Rajesh Arya (now posted in Jind) and Subhash Sihag (now posted in Hisar), AFSOs Jagat Pal and Narender Sardana, inspectors Sanjeev Kumar, Manoj Kundu, Ashok Kumar and Sunil; sub-inspectors Ravinder and Shamsher, and 58 depot holders of the district. The complaint to police says that the officials have shown supply of wheat to these 58 depot holders multiple times in a month while denying the commodity to several others in the name of shortage of supply from government during January 1, 2015, to December 31, 2016. The matter came to light after the complaint was forwarded to the minister concerned last year, the then additional chief secretary (food and supplies) ordered a probe.
