COP HELD FOR SMUGGLING TOBACCO INTO JAIL

SANGRUR: A head constable posted at the city police station has been arrested for supplying tobacco products and a mobile phone into the district jail. The accused, Jarnail Singh, has been dismissed from service. Police said he was trying to supply tobacco products and the cellphone to a prisoner, Sukha Singh, who has been convicted under the NDPS Act. A case under Sections 353 (assault or criminal force to deter public servant from discharge of his duty), 186 (obstructing public servant in discharge of public function), 120B (conspiracy) of the IPC and Prison Act has been registered against the cop.
