Coach­ing cen­tre owner shot dead in Rohtak

HISAR: The court of ad­di­tional district judge, Pankaj, of Hisar has sen­tenced a Ku­ruk­shetra man, Ro­hit Rod, to seven years in jail for rap­ing a med­i­cal col­lege stu­dent in June 2014. The court has also im­posed a fine of Rs 13,500 on the con­vict.

In the po­lice com­plaint, the vic­tim had said that she knew Rahul since her coach­ing classes for med­i­cal col­lege.

When she got ad­mit­ted to a med­i­cal col­lege in Hisar, Rahul con­tin­ued to come to meet her at the col­lege.

In June 2014, Rahul came to meet her, of­fered her some in­tox­i­cant-laced soft drinks and ab­ducted her.

The com­plaint added, he took her to a ho­tel in Hisar, where she raped her and even shot her MMS.

He also threat­ened the ac­cused with dire con­se­quences and of mak­ing the video vi­ral, if she in­formed any­body. How­ever, on June 26, 2014, she dis­closed the mat­ter to her fa­ther and a com­plaint was fi­nally lodged on July 24, 2014 at the Agroha po­lice sta­tion.

He has been con­victed un­der Sec­tions 342 (wrong­ful con­fine­ment); 354 (as­sault or crim­i­nal force to woman with in­tent to out­rage her mod­esty); 376-A (rape); 377 (un­nat­u­ral of­fences); 506 (crim­i­nal in­tim­i­da­tion) and un­der Sec­tions of the In­for­ma­tion Tech­nol­ogy Act. ROHTAK: Uniden­ti­fied mis­cre­ants pumped six bul­lets into a coach­ing cen­tre owner, Viren­der Singh, 35, in Rohtak’s posh DLF colony on Mon­day night. The mur­der hap­pened near Haryana co­op­er­a­tion min­is­ter Man­ish Grover’s house, rais­ing a ques­tion mark over safety of res­i­dents.

Viren­der, a res­i­dent of Khadothi vil­lage in Rohtak, was stay­ing with his wife and kids in Bhi­wani and ran a coach­ing in­sti­tute for English and skill de­vel­op­ment by name of PS Ed­u­ca­tion in Rohtak’s DLF colony.

The po­lice said Viren­der had gone to see-off his friend to the end of the street from his in­sti­tute on Mon­day night when some car­borne mis­cre­ants open fired at him and fled the spot. He was rushed to Post Grad­u­ate In­sti­tute of Med­i­cal Sciences (PGIMS) where doc­tors pro­nounced him dead dur­ing treat­ment.

Viren­der’s fa­ther Bal­bir Singh said he had an on­go­ing mone­tary dis­pute with Bharat Colony res­i­dent Rahul, over which he had re­cently filed a po­lice com­plaint against Rahul at the Civil Lines po­lice sta­tion. Bal­bir said he sus­pected Rahul’s hand be­hind the in­ci­dent.

On Bal­bir’s com­plaint, the po­lice have booked Rahul un­der Sec­tion 302 (mur­der) of In­dian Pe­nal Code and sec­tions 25, 54 and 59 of the Arms Act. No ar­rest had been made till the fil­ing of this re­port.
