Lt Col de­tained for ques­tion­ing by mil­i­tary in­tel­li­gence in Ja­balpur

BHOPAL: A lieu­tenant-colonel in the In­dian Army was de­tained by the mil­i­tary in­tel­li­gence (MI) in Ja­balpur, Mad­hya Pradesh, army of­fi­cials said on Wed­nes­day.

The of­fi­cer, posted at the 506 Army Base Work­shop in the city, was ques­tioned for over 12 hours, the of­fi­cials added, but de­clined to com­ment on the rea­sons be­hind the ac­tion.

Colonel BP Singh, the army spokesper­son in Ja­balpur, con­firmed that a lieu­tenant-colonel rank of­fi­cial was be­ing ques­tioned.

“Noth­ing is clear as of now. In­ves­ti­ga­tion is still go­ing on. We will be in a po­si­tion to share more de­tails by to­mor­row as to why he is be­ing ques­tioned,” Singh said.

Ac­cord­ing to of­fi­cials, the MI searched the lieu­tanant-colonel’s of­fice, checked his com­put­ers, sifted through his files, and seized doc­u­ments.

He was then taken to the Army Cen­tral com­mand head­quar­ters, where he was ques­tioned from about 8 pm on Mon­day to 8 am on Tues­day.
