Lt Col detained for questioning by military intelligence in Jabalpur
BHOPAL: A lieutenant-colonel in the Indian Army was detained by the military intelligence (MI) in Jabalpur, Madhya Pradesh, army officials said on Wednesday.
The officer, posted at the 506 Army Base Workshop in the city, was questioned for over 12 hours, the officials added, but declined to comment on the reasons behind the action.
Colonel BP Singh, the army spokesperson in Jabalpur, confirmed that a lieutenant-colonel rank official was being questioned.
“Nothing is clear as of now. Investigation is still going on. We will be in a position to share more details by tomorrow as to why he is being questioned,” Singh said.
According to officials, the MI searched the lieutanant-colonel’s office, checked his computers, sifted through his files, and seized documents.
He was then taken to the Army Central command headquarters, where he was questioned from about 8 pm on Monday to 8 am on Tuesday.
