Two nabbed for making counterfei­t currency in Sirsa

HISAR : The Sirsa police arrested two men involved in printing fake currency and seized counterfei­t notes of ₹100 denominati­on amounting to ₹40,000.

The accused have been identified as Balwant, a resident of Jhopra village, and Vinod Kumar of Nejadela Kalan village of the district.

Addressing a press conference, Sirsa superinten­dent of police (SP) Hamid Akhtar, said, “The police also seized 54 pages having printed fake currency on one side, one computer, printer, CPU, and other material used in printing fake currency.”

He said anti-narcotic cell in-charge Ajay Kumar got a tipoff about the gang and arrested both the accused.

During interrogat­ion, the accused told the police that counterfei­t currency of about ₹70,000 had been produced by them so far. They also circulated some notes in the market with the help an accomplice. “The third accused is absconding,” the SP said. A case has been registered against the accused and further investigat­ions are on into the matter, he added.
