Herbal vertical garden opened
AMRITSAR: A garden of sandalwood and herbal plants will come up on the premises of the Golden Temple complex, said SGPC’S chief secretary Dr Roop Singh, here on Saturday.
The SGPC chief secretary was here to inaugurate the construction work of the garden, Guru ka Bagh.a vertical green belt is being set up on the walls around the Golden Temple complex.
“A garden is also being constructed near the Gurdwara Manji Sahib Diwan Hall. Saplings of sandalwood and herbs will be planted,” said Roop Singh.
“Baba Kashmir Singh Bhuriwale has started the work and the garden will be ready in next few months,” said Harbhajan Singh Vakta, publicity in-charge, SGPC. As per the SGPC officials, areas in the market from Gheo Mandi to the Golden Temple complex are also being identified to be covered with vertical plants. “We will also take environmentalist Baba Sewa Singh’s help and Kar Sewa Khadoor Sahib wale to set up the gardens,” said Vakta.
In collaboration with PPCB, SGPC had replaced plastic bags by biodegradable ones for carrying ‘karah parshad’ and ‘pinni parshad’ at Golden Temple.htc
