Herbal ver­ti­cal gar­den opened

AM­RIT­SAR: A gar­den of san­dal­wood and herbal plants will come up on the premises of the Golden Tem­ple com­plex, said SGPC’S chief sec­re­tary Dr Roop Singh, here on Satur­day.

The SGPC chief sec­re­tary was here to in­au­gu­rate the con­struc­tion work of the gar­den, Guru ka Bagh.a ver­ti­cal green belt is be­ing set up on the walls around the Golden Tem­ple com­plex.

“A gar­den is also be­ing con­structed near the Gur­d­wara Manji Sahib Di­wan Hall. Saplings of san­dal­wood and herbs will be planted,” said Roop Singh.

“Baba Kash­mir Singh Bhuri­wale has started the work and the gar­den will be ready in next few months,” said Harb­ha­jan Singh Vakta, pub­lic­ity in-charge, SGPC. As per the SGPC of­fi­cials, ar­eas in the mar­ket from Gheo Mandi to the Golden Tem­ple com­plex are also be­ing iden­ti­fied to be cov­ered with ver­ti­cal plants. “We will also take en­vi­ron­men­tal­ist Baba Sewa Singh’s help and Kar Sewa Khadoor Sahib wale to set up the gar­dens,” said Vakta.

In col­lab­o­ra­tion with PPCB, SGPC had re­placed plas­tic bags by biodegrad­able ones for car­ry­ing ‘karah par­shad’ and ‘pinni par­shad’ at Golden Tem­ple.htc
