CHANDIGARH: The Shiromani Akali Dal and BJP will observe ‘Vishvasghat Diwas’ on March 2 to ’expose the betrayal’ by the Congress government with the people of Punjab.

“The two parties will hold constituency-wise protests throughout the state to focus on unforgivable act of chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh in breaking the oath taken by holding sacred gutka sahib in his hand in the run-up to the assembly elections,” SAD president Sukhbir Singh Badal and BJP state unit president Shwet Malik said in joint press conference after a meeting of the state-level coordination panel of the two parties at the SAD headquarters here this evening.

“The Congress government in Punjab has put the people of the state on a ventilator, stabbing farmers, traders, employees, Dalits and every other section of Punjabis in the back by not meeting the promises made to them during the campaign,” they said, adding that the two parties have decided to put pressure on the state government to release the arrears for all the instalments of DA to the state government employees.

The leaders said the SAD-BJP will go into the election campaign as one alliance unit as the bond between the two was far more than political arrangement.
