HP’S FIRST MEGA FOOD PARK COMES UP IN UNA

SHIMLA: The Himachal Pradesh government is providing all possible assistance to entrepreneurs for establishing food and fruit processing units to provide employment opportunities, besides strengthening the economy, chief minister Jai Ram Thakur said on Sunday.

He was addressing people through video conference from Shimla after inaugurating state’s first mega food park at Singha village in Una district.

Established under the Central government’s Mega Food Park scheme, Cremica Food Park has been set up with an investment of ₹110 crore in 51 acres of land. The park also has a common administrative building for office and other uses by the entrepreneurs and 3 PPCS at Solan, Mandi, and Kangra having facilities for primary processing and storage near the farms.

Union minister for food processing Harsimrat Kaur Badal was also present through video conferencing from Delhi.

“Investment worth ₹300 crore is expected in the food park which would open new vistas of development in the area and strengthen the state’s agricultural economy,” the CM said. He said the farmers and fruit growers of the area would get remunerative prices for their produce besides employment opportunity for the youth.speaking on the occasion, Badal said the modern infrastructure for food processing created at the park will benefit the farmers, growers, processors and consumers of Himachal Pradesh and adjoining areas immensely, and prove to be a big boost to the growth of the food processing sector in the state.
