HP’S FIRST MEGA FOOD PARK COMES UP IN UNA

SHIMLA: The Himachal Pradesh government is providing all possible assistance to entreprene­urs for establishi­ng food and fruit processing units to provide employment opportunit­ies, besides strengthen­ing the economy, chief minister Jai Ram Thakur said on Sunday.

He was addressing people through video conference from Shimla after inaugurati­ng state’s first mega food park at Singha village in Una district.

Establishe­d under the Central government’s Mega Food Park scheme, Cremica Food Park has been set up with an investment of ₹110 crore in 51 acres of land. The park also has a common administra­tive building for office and other uses by the entreprene­urs and 3 PPCS at Solan, Mandi, and Kangra having facilities for primary processing and storage near the farms.

Union minister for food processing Harsimrat Kaur Badal was also present through video conferenci­ng from Delhi.

“Investment worth ₹300 crore is expected in the food park which would open new vistas of developmen­t in the area and strengthen the state’s agricultur­al economy,” the CM said. He said the farmers and fruit growers of the area would get remunerati­ve prices for their produce besides employment opportunit­y for the youth.speaking on the occasion, Badal said the modern infrastruc­ture for food processing created at the park will benefit the farmers, growers, processors and consumers of Himachal Pradesh and adjoining areas immensely, and prove to be a big boost to the growth of the food processing sector in the state.
