AAP NAMES 320 CANDIDATES FOR CIVIC POLLS

CHANDIGARH: The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Thursday named its candidates for 320 wards of 35 local bodies for the upcoming municipal corporation, municipal committee and nagar panchayat polls in Punjab.

Announcing the names, AAP’S state in-charge Jarnail Singh and state president Bhagwant Mann said the party would contest the local body polls on its election symbol. Candidates have been announced for Adampur, Bhikiwind, Samana, Mukerian, Zirakpur, Dera Bassi, Rayya, Bathinda, Chamkaur Sahib, Kapurthala, Sham Chaurasi, Hariana, Urmur Tanda, Hoshiarpur, Mehatpur, Kartarpur, Nakodar, Noormahal, Phillaur, Alawalpur, Jagraon, Lohian Khas, Kharar, Jandiala Guru, Doraha, Amargarh, Ahmedgarh, Nangal, Moga, Kot Ise Khan, Nihal Singh Wala, Samrala, Raikot, Ramdas and Majitha. The party also named its office-bearers of the legal cell and SC wing in the state. Justice Jora Singh (retd) has been appointed as the president of the legal cell whereas advocate Kashmir Singh Malhi has been made secretary. Lal Chand Kataruchakk and Jeevan Singh Sanghowal have been appointed president and vice-president of SC wing. Barinder Sharma has been made state event in-charge.
