DOS AND DON’TS

Hindustan Times (Chandigarh) - City - - Lifestyle - — With inputs from designer Swati Vijayvergie

Never wear all-over gold during the day. If you happen to wear gold during the day, team it up with pastels, especially crème.

Gold can make you look like a million bucks if you combine it with the correct elements. If worn wrongly, it can also make you look unappealing. So, when you are wearing gold, either wear everything in gold or mix it up with a contrasting colour such as black. Never pair gold with silver, as they do not complement each other, and might make your look tacky.

Gold in rich brocades or similar handwoven textiles is pretty fail-safe.

Antique gold looks interesting on every skin colour and is the best option for Indian silk.

Gold should never be worn with neon colours. While sporting gold, avoid gold accessories

Gold makeup is in vogue as well. A slight dash of glitter lip gloss can make many lipstick shades look glamorous.

It’s important to choose the right tone of gold, otherwise it can look unattractive.
