Blaz­ers are in vogue — with a list of celebs like Ri­hanna, Gigi Ha­did opt­ing for them

New York Fash­ion Week (NYFW) has raised the bar for street style, but amidst all the fash­ion chaos, a star piece has emerged — the state­ment blazer.

Bold, man­nish jack­ets have been on the fash­ion radar ever since singer Ri­hanna donned an out­sized one while meet­ing the First Lady of France, Brigitte Macron, to dis­cuss her global ed­u­ca­tion ini­tia­tive back in July.

The state­ment shoul­ders and long sleeves of RiRi’s blazer gave a play­ful twist to busi­ness dress­ing, and set the tone for fall dress­ing.

Since then, su­per­model Ken­dall Jen­ner has been spot­ted work­ing the over­sized blazer as her new go-to piece for that off-duty model look. She was also seen don­ning a man­nish, too-big tweed coat, a move which was also fol­lowed by singer Selena Gomez.

But while Jen­ner has teamed her tai­lor­ing with jeans and sweaters, TV per­son­al­ity Kim Kar­dashian has taken things to the other ex­treme, wear­ing the piece as a dress (co­in­ci­den­tally also a look that Ri­hanna has sported dur­ing NYFW).

also be worn the con­ven­tional way. Both mod­els Gigi and Bella Ha­did have been rock­ing the trend on the red car­pet, with Bella opt­ing for a gold and dou­ble-breasted one for a Max Mara store open­ing, and Gigi kept mak­ing re­peated ap­pear­ances in brightly-hued suits through­out NYFW.

In­deed, blaz­ers are shap­ing up to be the most in-de­mand state­ment piece this sea­son.
