I HAVE DEVELOPED SCRIPTS: KUNAL
Kapoor talks about his fondness for writing, adds he doesn’t want to restrict himself as far as creativity is concerned
Not many know that along with acting, Kunal Kapoor is also extremely passionate about writing. The actor has penned down a few stories that he has turned into full-fledged scripts. “I remember as a child I was very shy, but whenever, I would hear an interesting story, I would get really excited. A few years ago, I started developing my stories into scripts. I used to write a lot of stories, short stories, and different ideas that I had to put down on paper. Then I started developing those into scripts. A few scripts may go into production soon, but I won’t produce those (movies) myself,” says the Raagdesh actor. He further adds, “There is one [project], which has a producer on board already, and that’s something we will start working on, by the end of the year. And then there’s another one that I am working on, which I’ll start pitching [to film producers] once it’s ready.” In some of the projects he may act as well, informs Kunal. Ask him if he intends to write a book someday, and he says, “I think a book is a very big challenge. Writing is a challenge in itself, but I like to write. It’s actually something that I have been doing since I was 12 or 13. However, I don’t know yet if I will write a book. The one thing I have not allowed myself to do is to restrict myself. I don’t like having barriers. I can be a writer, I also want to be a musician. There are a lot of things that I can take up. I think it is important to not label yourself because the moment you label yourself, you restrict yourself.” Since he mentioned music, on asking if he has any plans to pen down songs or compose tunes? “I am just starting out. I want to be a musician, because I was fascinated by music. I always wanted to learn a musical instrument. Currently, I am learning to play the guitar and I want to be good at it,” says the Dear Zindagi (2016) actor.
