I have been in the industry for seven years and have never thrown a birthday bash, and I am proud of it too. SHRENU PARIKH, ACTOR

Ihaven’t been home since the past six months,” says birthday girl Shrenu Parikh, who is paying a flying visit to Vadodara, Gujarat. The Dil Boley Oberoi actor is thrilled about finally getting to spend time with her family. She reached Vadodara last morning and plans to leave for Mumbai at noon today, as she needs to shoot for her ongoing TV show in the evening. She says, “I do believe that if you work on your birthday, your new year will be fruitful and successful. I will spend time with my parents and my friends. I rarely get to spend time with friends as everyone is working and they can’t visit Mumbai.” “My birthday is a good occasion for a get-together over dinner. My younger brother is currently in the US, so I will miss him.” The actor tells us she likes celebrating birthdays in a sober manner. “I have never thrown a birthday bash. I like to visit a temple and meet my friends as I am not someone who likes to party. I have been in the industry for seven years and have never thrown a birthday bash and I am proud of it too. I used to teach street kids at an NGO, so I might go meet them and give presents and sweets. I feel good to do that. I am overwhelmed with the gifts showered by my fans and family. That makes it special.” Ask her is she is dating anyone and Shrenu laughs. She says, “No. I am enjoying working right now. Once I get married, work will take a back seat. And I won’t date someone, I will right away get married.” On the career front, Shrenu is glad that her show has earned her accolades. Her previous show, Iss Pyaar Ko Kya Naam Doon?...Ek Baar Phir was successful too. “I feel I have grown over the years and that’s what matters. Iss Pyaar Ko…is still being appreciated as it is airing on another channel and doing very well. Though, I am ambitious, I compete only with myself. I am in the best phase of my life and enjoying my work,” she says.
