Shah Rukh Khan to open IFFI in Goa

One of In­dia’s big­gest film fes­ti­vals, the In­ter­na­tional Film Fes­ti­val of In­dia (IFFI), is set to start soon, and it ap­pears superstar Shah Rukh Khan will be in­au­gu­rat­ing the fes­ti­val this year. The ac­tor will be mak­ing the of­fi­cial wel­come ad­dress at the event, which will be held in Goa. Talk­ing about the fes­ti­val, Shah Rukh says, “It’s an ex­cit­ing time for world cin­ema, es­pe­cially In­dian cin­ema. It’s won­der­ful that our coun­try has opened its doors, with the In­ter­na­tional Film Fes­ti­val of In­dia pro­vid­ing a plat­form to show­case some of the finest films from across the world. As IFFI gets into its 48th year, I look for­ward to in­au­gu­rat­ing the fes­ti­val and cel­e­brat­ing what I re­gard in many ways as the fu­ture of cin­ema. I would also like to ex­tend a warm wel­come to all the del­e­gates to In­dia with open arms, as only us In­di­ans can.” Shah Rukh re­cently lauded In­for­ma­tion and Broad­cast­ing Min­is­ter Sm­riti Irani’s ef­forts to­wards the fes­ti­val, which is sched­uled to be held from Novem­ber 20 to 28. He also ex­tended his sup­port to the fes­ti­val, tweet­ing, “Great en­deav­our by I&B Min­is­ter Sm­riti Irani to make IFFI the most in­clu­sive, rel­e­vant fo­rum for In­dian cin­ema. My un­wa­ver­ing sup­port to you,” on his Twit­ter ac­count.
