Oscar-winning actor Natalie Portman has now officially joined Jude Law in upcoming movie, Vox Lux.

According to Hollywood Reporter, the 36-year-old actor replaced Rooney Mara, 32, who was earlier attached to play the central character, a pop star. The character has been described by the web magazine W as “somewhat Britney Spears-esque tragic pop star”. The word “tragic” may be a reference to the incredible rise to fame and equally incredible meltdown of Spears, who was pop superstar for years — a life that’s perfect movie material.

The musical odyssey, directed by Brady Corbet, follows Celeste, as she rises to fame. Singer Sia will provide original music for the film, whose shooting begins soon.

Portman is also in talks to star in Pale Blue Dot, an astronaut drama.

The actor will be next seen in Alex Garland’s Annihilation, a sci-fi thriller.
