Varun comes to Banita’s rescue

Every film star yearns for fans’ love but fan frenzy can be unnerving, too, especially for a newcomer. Last week, newcomer Banita Sandhu, who is set to debut in Bollywood with Shoojit Sircar’s October, had a firsthand experience of fan mania. But little did she know that her co-star Varun Dhawan would become her saviour.

“When Varun took out Banita, (filmmaker) Shoojit Sircar and (writer) Juhi Chaturvedi, among others, for dinner at a restaurant in Mumbai last week, word about their presence spread and within minutes, a huge crowd gathered,” shares an insider.

Varun could see that Banita is “new to such things” and stood up for her safety. The insider adds: “Banita is just 20 years old and is very new to all such happenings. So, Varun thought that he should take her out from that place safely, and he did that quickly on his own, as he is very protective about her. Actually, no one was expecting such a crowd to gather so quickly so Varun prioritised her safety first. He didn’t want anything to go wrong.”

Otherwise, too, like a good co-star, Varun has been like a “constant guide and friend” to Banita throughout the shooting schedules. “Varun knows the emotions and feelings of a newcomer so he has been guiding Banita in whatever way he can,” says the insider. Varun had made his debut in Bollywood in 2012 with Student Of The Year (SOTY).

Right from the start, the actor has maintained that October is an ‘extremely special’ film for him. “He always wanted to work with Shoojit Sircar and had said the same even during SOTY promotions,” adds the insider.

Varun couldn’t be reached for a comment.
