Satish Kaushik, whose last directorial was Gang of Ghosts (2014), will again be donning the director’s hat for a biopic on Lal Bihari Mritak, a man who had to fight to prove his existence. Kaushik reveals to us exclusively, “I had this idea for almost 15 years, right from when I was working on Mujhe Kucch Kehna Hai (2001). I had read this article while having tea. It read, ‘I am alive!’ and completely appalled me. It was about this man who had an unusual victory in life. He was declared dead in the government records, and it took him 18 years to prove that he is alive. Pankaj Tripathi, who’s a very subdued and understated actor, will play the lead role. He is from National School of Drama, like me. He suits the role to the T. We have changed his character’s name to Bharat Lal in the film.”
